A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
