Thousands Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the area, producing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Locals observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received 598 emergency reports across the area, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

During the peak on the previous day, over 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
